Stile Products Recalls Tern Folding Bicycles Due to Fall Hazard
Sometimes, even exercising can be dangerous. The CPSC has announced the recall of their Tern Folding Bicycles because apparently the frame can crack, risking a bike accident injury to the rider.
The bad bikes were sold by the California manufacturer at their Stile/Tern dealers nationwide from January 2012 to May 2013. And these are no bottom-end bikes – they retailed for between $1,800 to $3,000 each.
The company has received 2 reports of personal injuries involving scrapes and bruises.
If you happen to own one of these troubled two-wheelers, PLEASE don't ride it again. The CPSC advises you to immediately contact the manufacturer at 888-570-8376, or go to their website link provided here: http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2013/Stile-Products-Recalls-Tern-Folding-Bicycles/
The CPSC notes these stats:
- About 3 million people in the US are injured annually, and at least 20,000 are killed as a result of defective products
- More than 220,000 children are injured annually from playing with defective toys.
- Around 7% of all personal injury lawsuits involve product liability
