Saturday, September 26th, is the date for the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce's first annual Poker Run, presented by the Goldberg Noone Abraham Law Firm.
As a statewide personal injury law firm that represents people who have been injured or have lost their lives in a motorcycle crash, our firm is proud to support the local Southwest Florida biker community, and join them for area poker runs, memorial rides, toy and food drives and other charitable events.
“We're always happy to show our firm's support for motorcycle enthusiasts and have a long history of helping them in the unfortunate event anyone is injured in a bike crash,” says the firm's Managing Partner Scot D. Goldberg. “We are advocates for safe riding and for the legal rights of bikers, and we really enjoy getting together with them at their local events – bikers are a great group of people.”
A poker run is an organized ride with scheduled stops along the route where riders draw a playing card. The biker with the best poker hand at the end of the run is the winner and collects cash and other prizes. The Chamber's poker run starts at 9:00 am at Gator Mike's Family Fun Park on Pine Island Road in Cape Coral with free breakfast, and kickstands up at 10:30. Stops include Bubba's Roadhouse & Saloon, Hawgz & Dawgz, Bert's Bar on Matlacha, Cap'n Con's Fish House in Bokeelia and others still being finalized. There will be an after-party and winner's presentation at Gator Mike's beginning at 3:00 pm. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Collier-Lee Honor Flight Organization which pays for and escorts veterans to special ceremonies in Washington, D.C. to honor their service and sacrifices.
There will be vendors on hand offering their products and services, plus a lot of free drawings and giveaways.
You can register for the event here, or just show up the day of the event.
Donna Germain is the President of the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce, and says she is anticipating a great turnout for this inaugural poker run.
“The Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral is so excited to be hosting our first ever Poker Run for the community and we are thrilled to have Goldberg Noone Abraham as our title sponsor”, Germain said. “We wanted to create some new events that featured our members located in North Cape Coral and the surrounding areas. Last year we started with a Trolley event and this year we wanted to create the tradition of an annual Poker Run to showcase the area.”
The Chamber enlisted the help of Angie “Momma Badger” and Sonny “Badger” of Badger Business Solutions and very active local bikers, to help organize and promote the event.
“We're stoked to kick off the first poker run event for the Cape Chamber, and looking forward to raising money to support them, as well as Collier-Lee Honor Flight,” says Angie. “We're avid supporters of anything having to do with motorcycles, and this event will be a great ride involving a lot of awesome local businesses.”
If you ride – or, you're welcome to participate in a car, too – please consider signing up early or just come on out and join this excellent cause. We hope to see you there!
